Biography
Dana Stein was born in Baltimore, Maryland, on September 19, 1958. He attended Harvard College, earning a B.A. in Government, cum laude, in 1981; the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs, Princeton University, where he received an M.P.A. in Public Affairs in 1985; and the Columbia University School of Law, earning a J.D. in 1985 as a Stone Scholar. Stein served as an attorney at Squire, Sanders & Dempsey from 1985 to 1992 and is the co-founder, president, and executive director of Civic Works. He is the author of the 2010 book Fire in the Wind. His public service career includes tenure as a member of the House of Delegates from June 25, 2002 to January 8, 2003, and again since 2007.
