Biography

Chantel Jackson, LMSW, represents New York’s 79th Assembly District in the Bronx, serving Concourse Village, Melrose, Morrisania, Claremont, Belmont, and East Tremont. Born in Harlem and raised in a close-knit family, her commitment to public service is grounded in lived experience and strong community ties. She earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from City College of New York and went on to spend nine years working with low-income, first-generation students on college access and financial aid. She later obtained her Master of Social Work from Adelphi University and served as a social worker in New York City public high schools for four years, supporting students’ mental and physical well-being. Her work is grounded in lived experience – as a licensed social worker, college professor, published author, and mother. These roles inform her focus on health, wellness, education, and building long-term economic opportunity for families in the Bronx and beyond.
