Biography
Representative Barry Hovis, a Republican, represents Cape Girardeau County (District 146) in the Missouri House of Representatives. He was elected to his first two-year term in November 2018. In addition to his legislative duties, Hovis is a former law enforcement officer, having retired as a lieutenant after more than 30 years of service. He currently runs a small hay and feeder cattle farm. Hovis is a life member and currently serves as the vice president of the Cape Area Friends of NRA. He also is a member of the Jackson Chamber of Commerce, the Cape Girardeau Pachyderms, the Missouri Farm Bureau, and the Missouri Cattleman’s Association. He and his wife attend Lynwood Southern Baptist Church, and teach third grade Sunday school class.
