Biography
State Representative Cecil Thomas was elected in November 2022 to serve Ohio’s 25th House District. A product of a working-class family, Representative Thomas was born in rural Alabama in 1952. After graduating from Withrow High School, he took a job as a public service worker. He joined the Cincinnati Police Cadet Program and graduated from the University of Cincinnati. Representative Thomas joined the Cincinnati Police Department, where he spent 27 years. He retired from the police force in 2000 and assumed the role of Executive Director of the Cincinnati Human Relations Commission. In 2005, Representative Thomas was elected to serve on the Cincinnati City Council. In 2014, he ran for the Ohio Senate and was elected to represent the Ninth District, serving for eight years. After his tenure in the Senate, Representative Thomas was elected to the Ohio House of Representatives in 2022.
