Biography
Ben Albritton (Republican Party) is a member of the Florida State Senate, representing District 27. He assumed office on November 8, 2022. His current term ends on November 7, 2028. Albritton became the state Senate President in 2024. Albritton was born in 1968, in Lakeland, Florida to a family of citrus farmers. He graduated from Hardee High School in 1986 before earning his bachelor's degree in business and citrus from Florida Southern College in 1990. He worked in his family's citrus groves and started an agriculture business called Albritton Companies. In 2005, then-Gov. Jeb Bush (R) appointed Albritton to the Florida Citrus Commission, a position he held until 2010, including three years as chairman. Albritton first ran for office in 2010, defeating Chevon Baccus (R) 79%-21% in the Republican primary for state House District 66 before winning 99.9% of the vote against a write-in candidate in the general election. He was re-elected unopposed in 2012 and 2014 and defeated David C. Poulin (D) 65%-35% in the 2016 general election. After four terms in the house, Albritton was elected to the state Senate in 2018, defeating Catherine Price (D) 65.1%-34.9%. He served as the senate majority leader from 2022 until his election as senate president in 2024. Albritton told the Senate Republicans when elected president, "Know that my values will not change. Faith, family, freedom, opportunity, life and agriculture are what define me."
