Biography

Diana Moreno is an immigrant New Yorker born and raised in Quito, Ecuador, who comes from a working-class family of teachers, bus drivers, and union organizers. After her family immigrated to the United States when she was 11, she became a labor organizer and immigrant rights advocate. She unionized faculty and graduate students, worked for Make the Road New York, and served at New Immigrant Community Empowerment (NICE), where she organized undocumented workers to fight against wage theft and advocated for workplace safety legislation for construction workers. Most recently, she worked for the New York State Nurses Association (NYSNA), supporting union nurses and healthcare workers. She has also volunteered to teach free English classes at the Astoria Food Pantry and served her community through various activist efforts. She assumed office as an Assemblymember on Feb. 4, 2026.
