Biography

Representative Read is a criminal justice instructor at the Regional Career and Technical Center at Coventry High School. Previously, he served with the Warwick Police Department for 23 years of honorable service, retiring as a detective lieutenant in 2018. He is a lifelong Rhode Islander and graduated from Cranston High School West in 1989. He earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1996 and a master's degree in criminal justice studies from Roger Williams University in 2004. He served as a member of the Coventry Juvenile Hearing Board and the Rhode Island Department of Education's Career and Technical Standards Committee. He and his wife have lived in Coventry for 26 years and raised their family there. They have three children.
