Biography
Bob Duff (Democratic Party) is a member of the Connecticut State Senate, representing District 25. He assumed office in 2005. His current term ends on January 6, 2027. Duff was born in Norwalk, Connecticut. He received a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Lynchburg, then Lynchburg College, in 1993. In 1995, he became a real estate agent at William Pitt Real Estate—later William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty—where he continued to work as of 2025. On January 29, 2002, Duff won the special election to represent District 137 in the Connecticut House of Representatives, defeating Kevin J. Fitzgerald (R) 56%-44%. Later that year, he defeated Friedrich N. Wilms (R) 61%-39% to win a full term in the House. In 2004, Duff ran for the Connecticut State Senate. He defeated Jeff Konspore (R) 59%-41% in the race for District 25. Duff was first elected Senate majority leader in 2015. According to his official biography, as majority leader, Duff was "most proud of his role in 2017 leading the rewrite of the state’s decades-old education funding formula" and considered "instituting one of the largest tax cuts in Connecticut history in 2023 and finally beginning to pay down seven decades of built-up pension debt" as one of the achievements of the Senate Democratic caucus during his tenure.
