Biography

Representative Jim Schulte, a Republican, represents part of Callaway County (District 49) in the Missouri House of Representatives. He was elected to his first two-year term in November 2022. In addition to his service as a legislator, Schulte is a cattle farmer who raises registered Dexter cattle and the owner/operator of Sand Spring Shooting Academy. He also is a 41-year veteran of the Missouri Army National Guard and was a Trooper with the Missouri Highway Patrol for 5 years. Schulte retired in 2013 from the Missouri National Guard as the State Command Sergeant Major. He served two combat tours in Afghanistan where he earned several honors including the Combat Infantry Badge, Legion of Merit, and Bronze Star Medal. Schulte graduated from Hazelwood High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in Management from Tarkio College. He has served as Chairman of the Board for the American Red Cross of Central and Northern Missouri, is a program coordinator for neighborhood watch, and is a life member of the VFW, NRA, and MO National Guard Association. A lifelong Missourian, Schulte was born in St. Louis and now resides in New Bloomfield with his wife. They have two children and two grandchildren, with the third on the way. Schulte and his wife attend Trinity Lutheran Church in Jefferson City and are regular volunteers. They enjoy hosting Veteran hunts several times a year at their property.
