Biography
State Rep. Gregory Markkanen was first elected to the Michigan House of Representatives in November 2018. He served as a medical Corpsman with the 82nd Airborne Division, the 452nd Combat Support Hospital US Army Reserve, and spent additional time as a Medic with the 107th Engineer Battalion of the Michigan Army National Guard. He has taught high school civics, history and geography for Baraga Area Schools, served on the Hancock City Council as the Ward II representative, and taught as an adjunct instructor with Gogebic Community College at the Houghton Campus.
