Biography
Joanne C. Benson is a retired educator and school administrator who formerly served as a school principal in the Prince George’s County Public School System. She began her legislative career in the Maryland House of Delegates, where she served from 1991 to 2011. She has been a member of the Maryland Senate since 2011. Throughout her public service career, she has held numerous leadership roles and served on a wide range of legislative committees, caucuses, and task forces. She is a member of the First Baptist Church of Glenarden.
