Cummings earned a bachelor's degree from Cardinal Cushing College in 1968 and an MSA from Saint Michael's College in 1989. She has worked as a realtor, a social service worker for Project Independence, and as the owner of Core Designs. Cummings served as the mayor of Montpelier.
