Nicole Bolden
City Clerk · State legislature · Indiana
Biography
When it comes to a legacy of firsts, Nicole Bolden is the third generation of her family where women step up to lead. Her grandmother made history as the first Black registered nurse at the University of Iowa Hospitals, while her mother achieved the significant milestone of being the first Black woman directly elected to the Monroe County judiciary. Bolden herself shattered barriers in 2015 by becoming the first Black woman elected to city-wide office in Bloomington, marking a historic moment as the first and only Black LGBTQ+/SGL woman holding elected office in Indiana.
