Jesse Brown

Biography

Councilor Jesse Brown is serving his first term on the Council, having been elected in November 2023 to represent District 13. Jesse is proud to be a first-time politician and is committed to bringing his career experiences in education, customer service and technology enablement to help bring constituents into policy decisions. Jesse focuses on transparency, accountability, and honesty in all of his work. Jesse’s Council work focuses on keeping government accountable, transparent, and well-functioning for all. He currently serves on the Council's Environmental Sustainability, Municipal Corporations, Education, Metropolitan Economic Development, and Parks and Recreation Committees. Jesse has been a lifelong Eastsider, a lifelong activist, and a lifelong organizer. Jesse is a proud socialist, a Christian, a pacifist, and a fighter for a better world. He is Precinct Committee Person for Precinct Center 44, and lives in the Otterbein neighborhood. Jesse has lived in his house on Riley Avenue ever since he bought it in 2008 as a twenty-two-year-old. Jesse rides his e-bike and the bus as his main forms of transportation, and you can easily spot him smiling and waving at neighbors any week of the year. Jesse attended school in Indianapolis, graduating from Our Lady of Lourdes for eighth grade, receiving a full ride scholarship to Cathedral High School, where he received an academic honors diploma and National Merit Scholar status in 2004; and working full time through college until graduating IUPUI in 2010 with a B.A. degree in cultural anthropology. He is a proud alumnus of the Sam Masarachia scholarship. Jesse resigned from his previous role as Director of Solutions Architecture for a tech firm and now works full time serving his constituents as Councilor.
